Do you like deer ? The appearance is so cute and very popular animal, so we can also see them on Disney Animation movies. There are more than a thousand deer in Nara Park. Why we meet so many deer there ? The reason is that the deer have been protected as messengers of gods in Nara Park from time immemorial. They are holy animal and loved by everyone who visit the park. If you have never touched deer, let’s go there and make a good experience with them.
You can give feed for them directly. The feed is deer cracker called Shika-Senbei (鹿せんべい) and you can buy it in that park. Deer really loves it, so you will be probably surrounded by them if you have the cracker on your hands. However, the number of visitors who are bitten by deer is increasing recently. We need to give feed with regularity and don’t provoke them.
